Clean your bath toys!by Rosie Potts, Mar 2019
So, just 6 weeks ago I became a first time Mum!
Amongst the ongoing ups and downs of sleepless nights, juggling work and trying to figure out why the heck he is still crying??!!
I have recently also been introducing the ‘Bath and bed routine’. This is the best part of the evening, as he finally stops whaling and begins to relax ready for his night time sleep! Hooray!
As every mother does, they make sure their precious little one has everything they could possibly need, this now includes Bath Toys!
However, over the past couple of weeks, I have began to realise that although these little squeezy toys are rolling round the bath tub 7 nights a week, they may not be as clean as we might think!
So before my little one is able to start putting them in his mouth, I have gathered some tips on how to keep them clean….
- After each use – squeeze excess water out of squirty toys and leave all the bath toys to dry on a clean towel before storing away until next bath time. (This is to be done once your little one is asleep, if you are like me you have a content happy baby in the bath but a squealer when removed from the bath!)
- Soak them once a week in a sink of hot soapy water with a couple of cups of white vinegar added. With squirty toys make sure you suck up some of the soapy vinegar solution inside the toy and squeeze out a few times to really clean the inside of the toy too.
But… if you’ve not done this then you need to get scrubbing.
- Fill a sink with hot water add a few squirts of washing up liquid and a good squirt of bleach.
- Soak all the toys in the cleaning solution for at least an hour.
I hope this helps!
