Women & Girls in Sports!by Emma Lord, Feb 2019
On the first Wednesday in February, National Girls & Women in Sports day is recognised all across the country.
It all started in 1987, when President Ronald Reagan declared the first celebration of this national day to recognise the history of womens athletics.
Check out womeninsport.org, it’s the only charity in the UK that researches sport purely from a female perspective. Their only aim is to have a society in where men and women are equal in sport.
It also doesn’t matter the sport. Whether girls choose to be a part of the volleyball team or prefer to aim for par or better in golf, the health, leadership, and academic benefits develop with each one.
Follow the hashtag #GirlsAndWomenInSportsDay on social media to see some great celebrations of the strong females out there!
