Tip Tuesday – Make Up

by Well Polished Tunbridge Wells, Mar 2017

Most of us know that make-up doesn’t last forever, but we’d bet that most of us also have products that are way past their best in our make-up bags.

We’ve made a handy list to know when each item needs to go to keep your skin looking flawless!

Powders : 2 years

Cream shadows and blushes : 12 – 18 months

Oil-free foundation : 1 year

Cream compact foundation : 18 months

Concealers : 12 – 18 months

Lipstick and lip liners : 1 year

Lipgloss : 18 – 24 months

Pencil eyeliners : 2 years

Liquid or gel eyeliners : 3 months

Mascara : 3 months

We’ve got some other tips to keep the rest of your collection at it’s best:

  • Nail polishes should go when they begin to separate
  • Make-up sponges can be cleaned after a week of use, but throw them away after two
  • Make-up brushes should be cleaned once a month
  • Pumping your mascara wand in and out of the tube forces more air in, causing it to go bad quicker
  • Pencil eyeliners and lip liners last longer when sharpened regularly
