The Remedy for Red Wine Stainsby Jeanette Campbell, Jun 2019
We’ve all been there. You may have decided after a couple of glasses to just throw your vino down your white shirt or straight onto that new white couch covers you just bought. No need to panic, it happens. Here’s how to properly deal with this type of stain.
- Dab the stain with a white cloth to soak up the excess liquid (under no circumstances should you scrub; this will cause the stain to set)
- If it is fabric you can remove and pull taut, do so and place a bowl underneath. Next sprinkle salt over the now-taut stain
- Add boiling water, by pouring it over the stain from a height of at least 8 inches. This will allow the water to flush out the stain.
- Machine wash on the hottest setting and keep doing so until the stain is completely removed. Do not place the fabric in the dryer before the stain is gone, as this will also cause the stain to set.
And that is the definitive guide on how to deal with red wine stains!
