Pancake Day!by Charlotte Edge, Feb 2020
Shrove Tuesday also known as Pancake day, marks the day before Lent starts on Ash Wednesday. So is a perfect way to use up any ingredients left before the 40 days of Lent, where we give something up before Easter. Here is a simple, yet tasty recipe we love to use! Time to get flipping and eat as many pancakes as you like!
Makes approximately 12 pancakes
You will need:
- 100g plain flour
- 2 large eggs
- 300ml milk
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Pinch of salt
- Whisk all the ingredients together to create a smooth batter
- Leave this to stand for 30 minutes
- Add a small dash of oil into a frying pan and add enough batter to fill the whole pan
- Cook for a minute each side and until golden
Top Tip: Keep them warm in a low oven as you cook the rest!
Now time to get creative with the toppings! For those of you who have a sweet tooth here are a few of our favourite pancake toppings:
- Lemon & sugar
- Chocolate & strawberries
- Peaches & cream
- Golden syrup & pineapple
- Banana & toffee sauce
- Apple & cinnamon
Or if you don’t have a sweet tooth why not try a savoury pancake?!
Have fun getting creative!!
