Christmas Begins in London with the Oxford Street Lightsby Kristina Mortimer Bale, Nov 2018
On the evening of the 6th of November, thousands gathered on Oxford Street to witness the official beginning of the holidays with the turning on of the Christmas lights.
Unlike previous years, there was no celebrity hitting the button. Instead, Londoners were treated to live shows from the likes of Ray BLK, Kara Marni and Isaac Waddington at various points throughout the night.
This is the 59th year of the light ceremony and it is one of the most highly anticipated events of the festive season in London. Other such events include the Silent Disco Christmas Party, which is a disco at which people listen to music through headphones and dance on a boat that travels along the river Thames throughout the night. This will be taking place on Thursday the 6th and Friday the 14th of December.
Another hot Christmas event in London would be the Big London Bake, which offers a cooking experience like no other, showing you how to make gingerbread houses and other tasty treats!
Whatever you plan to do this Christmas, London has an event for it. Check out any of these upcoming events for a fun and festive evening!
