‘Rebus: Long Shadows’ is a Must See in Northampton

by Bex Spires, Nov 2018

The Royal and Derngate in Northampton has played host to Ian Rankin’s new instalment in the Rebus series: Rebus: Long Shadows.

The play is a dark yet whimsical one and tells the story of John Rebus, a worn down and borderline alcoholic Edinburgh police officer who behaves like a vigilante, righting wrongs and paying the price for it. The play is a reflection of the changes in society throughout Rebus’ career; once run down communities have been converted into high-end residential areas and people are more interested in their smartphones than anything else.

The rest, however, will be revealed when you go and see the play!

Rankin is a renowned crime novelist and the play was co-written by Rona Munro, best known for her work on the Doctor Who TV serial of the original run to air ‘Survival’ in 1989.

All the reviews of this play appear to be positive and we highly recommend catching the next showing on Saturday the 10th of November at the Royal and Derngate!
