What to do in Croydon:by Hiral Patel, Apr 2019
Croydon Airport Visitors Museum
Located in Airport House, on Purley Way, this micro-museum makes the first Sunday of every month a highly anticipated day in Croydon. Haley Sharpe, designer and winner of the British Tourism Award, has set up many different areas of this museum for public viewing. The museum features interactive displays and various different storyboards. A definite must see!
Since moving south of the river, Boxpark has been a huge hit with the locals. Premiering as the first food and beverage only site, Boxpark Croydon features over 200 events every year. It also has over 40 food tents, serving nearly any cuisine you could think of, and has the capacity for around 2000 visitors!
The famous and once functional windmill in Croydon, the Shirley Windmill, has been restored to almost perfect condition and is now open to the public as a tourist attraction. Tours of the windmill take you through its vast history and purpose in around only an hour. Of course, souvenirs and refreshments are available throughout. A small segment out of your day for a vast wealth of cultural and historical knowledge and context? Don’t mind if I do!
