Well known throughout the Sussex area, this railway has been in operation since August 1960 and now runs trains on a 22 mile return trip between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, and has one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages preserved straight out of service from railways across Great Britain.

The railway has recreated trains from the 1880’s right through to the 1960’s and as a result of that is popular with film and television productions!  The Horsted Keynes station has featured in Downton Abbey, Churchill’s Secret and Muppets Most Wanted.

Throughout the year, there are various events going on including visiting engines, family fun days and historically themed days.

An up and coming event takes place this weekend with exciting model railway lay outs and new traders.   Go along and enjoy steam train rides, explore the stations and visit the exhibitions with the main elements taking place at Horsted Keynes and Sheffield Park stations.    Exhibitions open from 10 am on both Saturday and Sunday, closing at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.

There will be an extensive 3 train service over the weekend and for the first time ever, the public can view inside the brand new maintenance shed at Sheffield Park where some exhibits will be located.

And in the picnic area at Kingscote station there will be a miniature steam railway running for all the family to enjoy.

Entry to the Model Railway show is free with a valid ticket to travel on the day.
