May Day Madnessby Julie Kempson, May 2018
It’s always a great feeling to finish work on a Friday night knowing that you have the weekend off but it is even better when it’s a bank holiday weekend, and you have the Monday off as well – just like this weekend coming, when Monday 7th May is another bank holiday, this time to celebrate May Day! Our hardworking Well Polished Crawley cleaners are looking forward to a day of rest and some fun.
May Day is officially 1st May but is generally celebrated on the first Monday of May, which this year is the 7th. Traditionally May Day sees Morris dancing, children dancing around a maypole and the crowning of a May Queen and is seen as a celebration of things coming to life, with maypole dancing signifying a way of saying farewell to winter even though summer does not begin until June!
Why not join in with some of the fun! Well Polished Crawley have chosen a small selection here for you to enjoy:
IFIELD MAY FAYRE
Monday 7 May 2018 starting at 11.30 when the May Queen Parade leaves St Margaret’s School at Ifield. The fayre opens at 11.30 at Ifield Barn Arts Centre.
