Best 3 Books to read this Bank Holiday Weekend

by Julie Kempson, May 2019

Another bank holiday weekend is fast approaching, and with it the unpredictability of the English weather.  One thing we can say is that whether the sun is shining or it is chucking it down, having a good book to hand is a must.   There is nothing better than lounging around in the sun, drink in one hand and a book in another.  Equally, on a rainy day, we like to snuggle underneath the duvet, pj’s on with a good book and a hot drink. With this in mind, let’s take a look at this week’s best sellers according to the New York Times Best Sellers List

Number 1 – Where the Crawdads Sing

This book has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list for 36 weeks now!  Written by Delia Owens, an intriguing story taking place in a quiet town called Barkley Cove on the North Carolina coast in 1969.  A young woman, Kya Clark – the so-called Marsh Girl –  who survived alone in the marsh becomes a murder suspect, after handsome Chase Andrews is found dead.

Number 2 – The Night Window

A new entry on the list, written by the well known author Dean Koontz, this book is the 5th in the Jane Hawk series.   Rogue FBI agent Jane Hawk becomes intent on bringing a frightening organisation to justice, putting not only her own life at risk but that of her 5 year old son, whom she has sent into hiding.

NUMBER 3 – The 18th Abduction

This is the 18th book in the Women’s Murder Club Series written by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro.  Detective Lindsay Boxer investigates the disappearance of three female teachers which quickly escalates from missing persons to a murder investigation.  After a night hour for the three women ends in a deadly torture session and they vanish without a clue – until a body turns up!
