3 local wineries to help you enjoy wine o’clock!by Julie Kempson, Mar 2019
We don’t know about you but when the Well Polished Crawley cleaners, think of a nice glass of wine, a chilled white sauvignon blanc from California or New Zealand springs to mind or a full body Merlot from France has our mouths watering, but did you know that we have our own vineyards right on our doorstep and within a short distance of Crawley?
BOLNEY WINE ESTATE
Perhaps our closest one to Crawley and more or less right on our doorstep, is the award winning Bolney Wine estate, a family run estate which covers some 40 acres, they are the proud holders of the impressive UK Wine Producer of the Year IWSC 2012 Trophy! Three generations of family currently work at the estate which has been in the family for five decades. Offering everything from wine tasting tours, catering for private events and their very own onsite (and online) shop, there really is no need to go any further afield to find a fine glass of wine.
Described by BBC wine expert, Oz Clarke as one of the most beautiful vineyards in the country, Breaky Bottom is located in a secluded fold of the South Downs close to Lewes, where the first vines were planted in 1974 by owner Peter Hall. Now recognised as one of the leading producers of sparkling white wine.
Another family run business, located just 8 miles from Brighton, the Albourne Estate overlooks the South Downs describes itself as “crafting small quantities of exciting and distinctive still and sparkling wines uinsg only own carefully grown grapes”. Wine tasting tours are lead by owner and winemaker Alison Nightingale.
Next time you are fancying a nice glass of wine, why not check out some of our local brands and let us know at Well Polished Crawley what you think.
