by Well Polished Colchester, Jul 2019

White Vinegar – The multipurpose miracle cleaning agent. Not only are shop bought cleaning products expensive they may also release harmful chemicals into the air that can cause headaches, throat and eye irritation and even cancer.

Don’t even get us started on how they can aggravate people with allergies. But what is the alternative? An unclean home? How about using a store cupboard staple instead? Use as a multipurpose cleaner White vinegar is ideal for cleaning sinks; simply pour onto a sponge and wipe over the whole area. It is also brilliant for removing limescale from taps.

If you are not keen on the smell, try adding a few drops of lemon juice into the mix. Get streak-free glass No need to buy a separate window cleaner, just spray some white vinegar onto any mirrors, windows or shower screens and wipe with a lint-free cloth or even with an old piece of scrunched up newspaper. Soften Stiff Towels After a few too many washes, your once soft and fluffy towels can become overexposed to detergents and stiff. Counteract this by using vinegar instead of fabric softened next time you wash them.

Remove ballpoint pen marks Remove ball point pen from walls, desks and even clothes with a quick dab if undiluted white vinegar. Clean your window blinds Simply don a pair of white cotton gloves, dip your fingers into white vinegar mixed with equal parts of hot water and then slide you fingers along each blind, removing any stubborn grime as you go.

Word of caution: Do not use white vinegar to clean  Frosted glass  Limestone, natural stone or marble worktops
