How to spend your Valentine’s Day in Bath this year….

by Rosanna Relton, Feb 2019

It’s that time of year again and whether you’re looking for a romantic way to celebrate or a fun evening for ‘Galentine’s’ then we’ve got you covered!

Our first port of call is of course, the Bath Thermae Spa, is there a better setting for a romantic evening or spa day? Our favourite feature is the roof top pool, complete with stunning views of the historic city. The Spa has an array of packages including massages, facials and 2 course meals. Here’s a link to their packages:

If you want to keep it simple, then a classic three course meal and drinks at one of the local hotspots is always a winner. We couldn’t recommend The Ivy Bath Brasserie enough, it’s beautiful setting, with well served comfort food and a wine list to die for! This is also a great recommendation for anyone planning a night out with the gals – The Ivy Royale is our go to cocktail for any visit and don’t forget to try the chocolate bomb for dessert – the calories don’t count if you share it! Instead of a traditional three course evening meal, why not have a lazy afternoon at The Pump Rooms? They do a fantastic afternoon tea in a beautiful, typically Bath, Georgian setting. They also have gentle, live music every day. We’ve linked their menu here:

If you’re feeling extra flush, we’d suggest a luxurious staycation at one of Bath’s many boutique hotels. Our favourite is No. 15 Great Pulteney Street, it boasts 40 thoughtfully designed rooms and there are several suites available. It also has it’s own spa and a superb restaurant – you won’t want to leave!

As well as grand romantic gestures, Valentine’s is also a prime time of year for well thought out proposals. If you’re feeling ready to take next step, Bath Abbey is a beautiful and dramatic back drop to pop the question – not to mention the view from the top! Bath Abbey have cottoned onto this and are even on hand to organise the romantic tour for you! We’ve linked their proposal page here

If you’re feeling a little more cultural and sophisticated, why not try a trip to the theatre? Bath’s Theatre Royal is currently showing A Song at Twilight, starring Jane Asher and Simon Callow. We’ve heard they’ve got a handful of tickets left for the big day! Buy them here:

Finally, if you’re looking to keep it very simple (and effective) a quality bunch of flowers won’t go a miss. Luckily Bath has a plethora of great florists, we’ve linked a few below. Our advice is to stick to roses and go with one colour – elegant and timeless.

However you spend it – Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo
